lending a hand and a camera for those in need

Most of us take for granted the many many photos we have around our houses everyday. Pictures of our wives, husbands, sons, daughters,or family. We have always had these photographs to remind us of our loved ones.

However there are those who do not know this joy. Who have never had a family portrait to hang on the wall. Many of us don’t realize that something simple as a family portrait can seem out of reach to a family living paycheck to paycheck.

This is where a new charity and a growing movement comes in. Meet help portrait. A growing group of professional photographers who are giving back and changing lives. These people simple donate time and their skills to give families the phtographs they’ve always wanted but could never afford.

Help portrait NWA describes themself as:

Help Portrait is a movement of photographers, creatives and volunteers who are using their time, equipment, expertise and energy to give the gift of photography. The basic idea is to give pictures to people who otherwise couldn’t afford them. This is a relatively new idea and it will be exciting to see it come together all across the country.

The concept is groundbreaking, the implementation is simple. So which brings me to this. Help Portrait is coming to NWA in decemeber and i want to get the word out on such a fantastic cause. On december 12th, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. many locations around northwest arkansas will be opening their doors to families who cannot afford family pictures. These locations are:
