happy thanksgiving from the young journalist!
Seasons greetings folks!!! I just wanted to take this time and thank all my readers for their support. You guys keep me writing. I have really enjoyed seeing my work read by some awesome people!!
Though I may be working tomorrow, I hope you have a merry and joyous time feasting with your family. Enjoy the day. It’s the only time it’s acceptable to pig out.
I do however need to let you know I will be taking a holiday break from blogging until next week. I have a nasty holiday work schedule coming up and need to focus on work. So until then happy holidays and glorious turkey day!

Sociable media podcast update

social highlight – help portrait NWA
lending a hand and a camera for those in need
Most of us take for granted the many many photos we have around our houses everyday. Pictures of our wives, husbands, sons, daughters,or family. We have always had these photographs to remind us of our loved ones.
However there are those who do not know this joy. Who have never had a family portrait to hang on the wall. Many of us don’t realize that something simple as a family portrait can seem out of reach to a family living paycheck to paycheck.
This is where a new charity and a growing movement comes in. Meet help portrait. A growing group of professional photographers who are giving back and changing lives. These people simple donate time and their skills to give families the phtographs they’ve always wanted but could never afford.
Help portrait NWA describes themself as:
Help Portrait is a movement of photographers, creatives and volunteers who are using their time, equipment, expertise and energy to give the gift of photography. The basic idea is to give pictures to people who otherwise couldn’t afford them. This is a relatively new idea and it will be exciting to see it come together all across the country.
The concept is groundbreaking, the implementation is simple. So which brings me to this. Help Portrait is coming to NWA in decemeber and i want to get the word out on such a fantastic cause. On december 12th, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. many locations around northwest arkansas will be opening their doors to families who cannot afford family pictures. These locations are:
- Fayetteville – Potter’s House
• Contact the site coordinator, Becca Horner: fayetteville.helpportraitnwa@gmail.com
– Springdale – Photographic Society of NWA Studios | 101 N. Mill Street | Springdale, AR 72764
• Contact the site coordinator, Melissa Taylor: springdale.helpportraitnwa@gmail.com

get out, get involved
– Siloam Springs – Main Street Studios | 107 W. University | Siloam Springs, AR 72761
• Contact the site coordinator, Luke Davis: siloamsprings.helpportraitnwa@gmail.com
– Rogers – Samaritan House | 211 W Hudson Rd | Rogers, AR 72756
• Contact the site coordinator, Tiffany Hellerstedt: rogers.helpportraitnwa@gmail.c
om
- Bentonville – Church of the Nazarene | 220 NW A St | Bentonville, AR 72712
• Contact the site coordinator, Valerie Foster: bentonville.helpportraitnwa@gmail.com
More locations will be added as need arises. BUT WAIT!!! Don’t forget that the only way somet
hing like this works is if people volunteer. If you are a professional photographer, an assistant, expert, or just want to
help anywhere you can there are still opportunities for you to get involved.
